need schooled on adj. regulators
need schooled on adj. regulators Can someone school me on the reasons for getting an adjustable pressure regulator? I realize lots of people get them and use them but what's the purpose? I know you can richen yourself up but can't you do that with a pcm editor and save the hassle of the regulator?
The reason I ask is my bud has one on his y-body that the previous owner put on there and when I checked his fuel pressure it's at 68 psi and I'm trying to figure out why he jacked the pressure up so high. It's a H/C car so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Any info you guys can give me would be great. Thanks.

The main reason for it is so that the company can make one reg for many applications. another reason is so you can have a little room to richen or make your car a little leaner. as the fp goes up, across the bord, the fule content increases. due to pressure. the LS1 target fp is 58 psi. the best way to increase the amount of fule to the car is to set pressure at 58 psi and change the injectors.
Thanks for the response. I need to take a look at his car again. I've been fighting a rough open loop idle and rich condition and that sounds like the culprit. I just know nothing about adj regulators and didn't want to bring his fuel pressure back to stock if it wasn't supposed to be. 10 psi seems like quite a bit to me.
