Help Me Diagnose This Problem!!
Every once in a while the car will hesitate (or hiccup as I call it) on acceleration. It can happen under mild or moderate acceleration as well as WOT. Usually, there is only a momentary hesitation or two (often accompanied by a backfire), but it has completely died a couple of times as well (once on the track and once just pulling away slowly at a green light!). It has happened when the car is cold and also at normal operating temperature. When the car died, it started up immediately and continued on as if it never happened. No code is ever set when this happens! I can drive the car without incident for a couple of hours and it runs flawlessly. The symptom can also happen 3 or 4 times in a few minutes! I cannot replicate the symptoms at will.
To date, I have replaced the fuel filter, installed new plugs and MSD wires, replaced the O2 sensors as they were originally messing up the fuel trim and causing the car to run pig rich. After the new O2 sensors were installed, the car was retuned with LS1 Edit and the A/F is now a solid 12.9 across the RPM range (heads and cam car) and the O2 sensors are now doing what they're supposed to do. I've cleaned the MAF as there was a little buildup of K&N oil on it and even put in a new TPS.
I've checked the fuel pump pressure while the car was on the dyno and it's right up there and solid as a rock.
The next thing is gonna be to do a clean/flush on the fuel injectors. If that doesn't work, I'll have to start looking at coil packs, crank sensor, cam sensor etc.
Has anybody experienced a similar problem and managed to find a solution?
All suggestions are appreciated!!
Best regardSS,
Elie
