external fuel pump......puller or pusher??

hey can an external fuel pump pull the fuel to the engine bay if there is nothing but a filter in the way? and if so can it achieve 50 psi?
all info helpful

Always want to have your pump in the rear and pushing. Put it as close to the fuel source as possible.
