Default fuel gauge fix??

Has anyone figured out how to fix the fuel gauge problem? I have a 99 z28, and the fuel gauge is reading incorrectly now. I have noticed that other ls1 owners are having problems with the fuel gauge....but I haven't seen a definite answer on how to fix it. I prefer not to drop the fuel tank unless I am positive that the sending unit needs to be replaced.

Welcome to the board. I'd post this in the fueling & injection forum, might find a way to test it there. I have two friends that had to replace their sending units - stayed on full forever...Both had a local shop cut an access panel on the rear deck instead of dropping the tank.

I took mine in under warranty and they took the easy route and replaced just the guage cluster and for a while it read right, then a few months later its acting up again but not all the time so I take it back in and go figure not acting up when its in the shop so they charge me for the time they looked at it. They said they would take the charge off my next deductable, but he point is they did not fix it right the first time and they paper work shop guy kepts saying it was a 8 hour job because you have to replace the sending unit and they did not want to do it unless they were sure.
