Octane requirements I have a '99 Trans Am WS-6. The car has 78mm TB and Intake and has been programmed. With gas prices today, has anyone tried to drop back to 89 octane? If so, what were the results?
i have been using 93 when i can , but there's a few stations that only have 89 , i had to put it in a few times , the results are; absolutly horrible gas milage, a metal cligny noise that all v8 gm's have when you put 89 octane in it (same thing happend to my husbands silverado) , bad accleteration and timing, just don't do it . if the stations have 93 octane, suck it up and buy it. you'll fill up 2xs as much with 89 so all in all you spend just as much , if not more , on 89...
