question for those with nasty tanks

What in gods name did you guys do to get your stock fuel tank straps to fit???? I have straightened mine on a vise to perfectly match the curves of the nasty tank and still i'm a good two inches short of touching any threads on the back brackets that hold the straps up..... it fits good laterally in the car and seemingly has good fitment if i'm holding it up but those straps i'm getting nothing but resistance... i think my only option other than longer straps is running an extremely long 10mm bolt..... I even removed the padding on the straps to see if it gave me any room.... yeah like 1 extra cm..... so now i'm 1.9 inches off

anyone dealt with this????

For some reasons some cars need longer bolts to reach. You can use long bolts and a small collar between the strap and body to hold it.

yeah i bought like mile long 10mm bolts... after some creative bending of the straps to match the angle of the tank i got it to fit... thanks nate and everybody else....

I just posted pics of the installed tank/pump/filter setup..... had to notch my trunk as well..... but i was expecting that...
