fuel pump failure?

how does the stock fuel pump go bad? i have replaced it once a couple of years ago and everything had been great. i got into an accident and the body shop had it running and now it has set there for a month and now all of the sudden it went out. they say it has a quater tank of gas. i think they ran it out and they put some gas in it to cover it up. anyway what the hell can cause it to go out. appearantly they tested it and its getting power. i am furious now. they have had my car for 2 months. this is frickin ridiculous.

Possibly for the same reason your first stock pump went bad. I think that your a little quick to pass the blame on to a body shop.

The fuel also keeps the pump cool,if you run out of gas you will burn out the fuel pump.

my first one went bad from running out of gas. i have never done that again. it was running at the body shop. then they let it sit for a month now it will not run.
