Default 42lb or 60lb with 8PSI?

Hey fellas. Im a soon-to-be STS owner and I was wondering if I shouldnt just bypass the 42lb injectors and go straight for the 60lbrs, since I plan on running 8psi and meth? Any advise?

Go ahead and get the 60s. If you don't you will be getting them later to replace the 43s.

I'd recommend the 60's as well. They have come down in price, I sell them for $420.00 for a set of eight. Bob

I did 42s then had to upgrade to 60s later. Not good for the wallet. Go 60s now.

I did the same thing. You will up the boost sooner than you think and require more injector.

We just upgraded to 60's on my friend Bill's T/A and we're just about ready to throw on another freakin' set. Here's the short list of mods: ATI P1SC 6 to 7ish #'s with 3.2 pulley, headers, 3in. cutout, SLP y-pipe, LS6 Intake, Comp SC2 226/234dur .598/.599lift 117+2 LSA for about 508rwhp/434rwtq on a lovely 98+degree 70's+ Humidity day Monday. Went from 42.5's to Motron 60's after the cam swap and we're already at 82 to 85% duty cycle with the 60's Maybe swapping to 96's and a fuel sys. upgrade...there goes a few $$$$.

If I run my system at only 5PSI for a few months am I going to have any drivability issues with that large of an injector?

No issues at all...as long as it's tuned for it. You can't jump from 42.5's to 60's without a tune or you'll be nasty rich. We tried....failed....and we ended up swaping them on the dyno.

But can I detune 60lb injectors enough to run on 5PSI(without running like crap)....in anticipation of upping the boost to 8PSI? Im assuming it would require a new tune then, also.

i just talked to my tuner if your going to run 8lbs the 42 lb injector is more than enough. if you have decided to run meth then it will be even less of a problem because the meth becomes part of the fuel . if you have no plans to build a forged motor your stock motor wont take much more than 8lbs so no need to purchase the 60 yet.

^^sweet. I know that the reason most people...uh. actually ALL people are saying 60lbs is because they anticipate upping the boost. 8PSI IS my 'upped' boost level. I have no desire to go higher and I have the self control to draw the line, there. I cant afford to go higher, anyway! LOL!

when u get the 60# injectors and you or a tuner tune it... make sure that they do it right and everything will be fine. if you go to get it tuned and people give you **** about it cannot run such a big injector send me a PM. 4 guys i know right now are running the 60#ers from motron and they are fine at idle and NA conditions, maintains a 14.3 and above AFR

Remember, you are not in boost all the time.

I run 60# which I tuned myself. Idle and part-throttle is fine. The Mototrons are easy to tune.

I'd go straight to the 72# ones, since you're planning for a turbo. That way you have headroom for more boost, nitrous, more-boost-and-nitrous, etc.
My RCEng 72's tuned just as easily as the 50's they replaced.

$680 from raceprovenmotors.com

You are not listening. You had 2 heavy hitters (Bob @EPP, Nasty N8) and a couple of minor league players suggest 60s and you still want 42s...
