My mpg seem to be dropping as I put miles on my car (and yes, I have kept up with the maintenance). When I first bought it (with 25k miles), I could get ~30mpg on highway trips. Now (with almost 80k miles) I can't seem to get anything better than 24mpg.

Keep in mind that EPA estimates are based on vehicles driven/tested on a 'closed course' and they are not generally accurate for most drivers.
Wish I could drive as easy as you can friend.
I would think that 24mpg is normal for your miles and your car.

When I did my homework prior to purchasing the car this past April, based on EPA mileage estimates and polling some LS1 owners at work, I projected 15 or 16 in town, which is what I would find satisfactory.
I find the 13 very disappointing and really the ONLY negative about an otherwise outstanding car. Any suggestions on what might be wrong? The car is stock from a performace standpoint, with the only mods being window tint, skip-shift and B&M shifter.
I'd appreciate any help.
Best regards,

Well... I'll list the most simple things you can do.
1: Check Tire pressure- It is true if your tires are off a few PSI it will affect your fuel economy alot.
2: Clean you air filter/ replace it with a new one
3: Try to shift earlier if you are babying it
4: Run some fuel injector cleaner through it. ( A product called seafoam works great ,just dump the can in a full tank and it will work its magic)
If it comes down to it, usually an aftermarket intake/exhaust will help fuel economy but will come at a cost.
Good Luck

2000 Trans-Am before mods, best I had was 29 MPG on the highway at 60mph, this was averaged over a full tank. Worse average over a full tank was 5.8mpg, this was a silly speeds back from the airport when not much other traffic on the road, my full tank of fuel lasted less than 50mins.
After mods not done a full tank average, about 16mpg around town, 24mpg on the highway. During heavy acceleration 1.05mpg in first gear and 2.2mpg in 2nd gear.

assuming you run z-rated performance street tires, run them at 35 psi. most tires like that will be rated 30-35 anyways. and a few extra lbs never hurt anything, these tires dont balloon out like soft wall tires do.

When I picked my car up(in sig) on June '06(stock) I drove 1000 miles between 70-90 with a couple fills averaging 28 mpg. The first fill was at slower speeds and with a tailwind I averaged 30 mpg! Its flat and windy in the midwest but its good for mpg when the wind is behind you.

15 in the city, a little better than 20 on the highway. Can't really tell though because can't keep ,my foot out of it. Conservative 3 BAR SD tune, 114 LSA .222 .224 .568 .574 cam, twin turbos, 93 octane, M6 tranny. My gas milage isn't much worse than when the car was stock as long as you keep your foot out of it. 60 lb injectors.
