How To Install A Fuel Pump I am about to get a fuel pump and i want to know if it is hard or easy to install. if you have instructions on how to do it i would appreciate it.it is a 2000 camaro ls1.
search for the trap door method of installation...f body's can be a pita if you do it by the books...i used the trap door method and not only was it not that bad, i know have a cool little access door if i ever need to get back in there...j.g.
Its not hard to do at all. Since I have true duals, and didn't want to cut up my car, I dropped the tank. You only have to remove the panhard bar, and the support bar above it for the tank to clear the rear end. If your exhaust is going to be an issue, then you may want to consider the trap door method.
I did mine on a saturday, racetronix kit with the hotwire setup, I dropped teh tanka dn removed the catback, really wasn't that bad. Just have the tank empty, because it will be too heavy if it's not. It's a 2 person job too, no way you can put the tank back in alone, trust me on that.
I dropped my tank and re-installed it by myself when upgrading the fuel pump. It would be easier with 2 people, but it's not impossible. Search this forum for dropping tank and you'll find a lot of info. Racetronix recommends dropping the tank so you can flush it while you have it out.
