its to early and i dont feel like doing the math.....
And how much does racefuel cost it aint cheap..

Sorry but i dont know the gas prices in US, So let me tell you guys about the fuel prices here in Sweden.
98 octane gasoline cost 12sek/L = $1.68/L = $6.36/gallon.
And 104 octane E85 cost 8sek/L = $1.12/L = $4.24/gallon.

$4.24 and add 30% and you get $5.51

racefuel? I was just wondering for a daily driving suv. no need for racegas in something like that. that would be silly.

so 93 octance here cost $2.19 right now. does anyone know what e-85 cost here?

OK, then you might not save any money by changing.

I was just pointing out to the people that use expensive fuel that with E85 they dont have to mess with it... With E85 you can drive with high octane all time. Which is really nice...

I just checked, theres a texaco here that sells it for 2.19 also. so to go the same distance it would realisticly cost $2.85 with an extra stop at the station.

that being said $2.85 is a nice price for the benefits once you pay to get the car tuned for it. Road trips wouldnt be practical in that car however due to some states dont have it at all. if it became a common fuel and the price went down... it would be a good fuel to use, on top of helping the environment.

the price of E85 varies greatly from state to state. availablity varies greatly too. you have a much better chance finding it in the midwest.

check here for availability and pricing http://www.e85refueling.com/

With that price, this definitely seems like a good route to go instead of say a Meth Kit how about a ETH Kit? How much does Methanol for the Meth kits go for a gallon? I'm sure Ethanol is much cheaper, and will only get cheaper as it is more widely available, imagine being able to stop at any gas station and be able to fill up your regular tank of 93 unleaded, and fill up your ETH kit with E-85? That is of course if you didn't want to change completely to just Ethanol. I remember reading an article some time ago that Walmart was pushing to sell E-85 at every one of their Gas Station pumps, and we all know how few Walmarts there are in the States There problem they said right now was of course not enough ethanol, but im sure in the next few years it will be much easier to produce. Hmmm maybe a business opportunity here.

Already been done!

Here is another post about E85
https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/594721-corn-powered-corvettes.html

Andy had done numerous cars from High compression 427's to boosted to Nitrous

Here is a twin turbo mustang that he did
http://www.rune85.com/turbocobra

I know that he has done corn powered procharged mustangs, vettes, and fbody's as well

question: E85s target a/f is 9.6 or whatever, right? So wouldnt we just able to to read our wideband and pretend like its running on gasoline to tune it? what i mean is that if 9.6 is 1 LAMBDA with E-85 then our wideband will show it as 14.7 and we can just tune it like were tuning gasoline. does this make any sense?

Yes you can... Lambda 1 is Lambda 1 it doesn´t matter if you run gas or E85, I just like to adjust my WB to E85 when tuning. And you dont have to change the stoich to 9.76 if you dont want to, you can just tune the car as you normally do but then you have to increase the VE alot more.

Wont 85% Ethanol chew your fuel system to pieces as well as valve seals?

No, I dont think so. I cant promise you anything but i still hav not heard of anyone who have had a problem and i read at the swedish E85-forum on a steady basis. Several 1000s of cars have been converted in Sweden and still no problems with the fuellines. It´s just an old myth and people who confuses ethanol with methanol.

I added some more info here https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....45&postcount=2

Excellent information. I think I am going E85 next year, with a high SCR/DCR heads/cam setup to take advantage of it. Big power from taking advantage of the high octane and eco-friendly.

Anybody know if they have stations With E85 pumps in Phoenix? Stuck in Iraq now, but would consider converting if it was readily available there as soon as I get back.
