Default Help!!!

I am on the final run of my ls1-s10 swap... My stock s10 fuel pump wouldn't push the 60 psi i need... so i went and picked up a pump at the local speed shop... Its a msd In-line fuel pump... I have it wired up already but i am having so much problems primeing the system... I dont think the msd pump can pull the fuel that well. Out of about 12 hours of working with it and pulling the tank back out twice, I got it to push up to the rail with 60psi once... and that was just by puting some hose on the end of it and putting that into a gas can... Im trying to just pull the fuel through the sending unit which has the pump torn out along with all the check valves... there's only a filter attached to a hose that runs up to the top of the sending unit...then to the pump...

Now i have a couple questions... Can i drop this pump into the tank and just let it rip..?

and if i can't do that how is this suppost to work? I've already ripped my sending unit apart to mod it into just a feeder... but it just seems like it wont pull the fuel out of the tank.. and im afraid if it can't pull the fuel by itself im going to end up stuck somewhere because truck wont start once it bleeds back down.. Is there a certain way to prime it or am i doing something wrong and pretty much f**ked?

Why did you not just replace the intank pump with a Walbro unit? That seems like the correct route. The inline pump will work inside the tank but I am afraid it will loose its prime as well as it does not have a check valve to hold pressure.

No no it does have a check valve... infact if im not mistaken walbro is making msd pumps... msd doesn't actually make pumps so i think its just white tag from walbro... Im actually going to get on the phone with them now to see what they say... but i trust people on the forums more then i do some sales-man... I just found a flaper valve too that i might end up using if i can't mount it in the tank... this pump is kinda loud which is another reason why i want to mount it in the tank... anyone else have any ideas? ya's or na's?
