Default car not starting?!?!?!?

99 TA. lock cyl. has been replaced, ignition switch has been replaced, vats have been relinked. im running out of ideas and cash. i can be cruising down the road and the car just shut off. all the lights will stay on and the radio and everything but the motor itself shuts off. ill pull over and push it to park (A4) and turn the key. the motor turns over but doesnt crank. just keeps turning over and over and over but wont crank. after a little while it will eventually crank and be ok for a little while then it will do it again. i cant figure it out and neither can the local pontiac dealer, or a few other local shops. anyone have this happen or know wats goin on? i would greatly appreciate u saving me alot of time and money. fuel filter has also been replaced and fuel pump relaybut could this be a fuel delivery related problem?

TIA,
Kody

My guess would be fuel pump. I had a problem with a past car that would drive around town fine and when on a long trip on the highway it would out of nowhere cut out. Dealership had a hell of a time trying to figure it out and alot of parts were replaced that did not need to be done. The final fix was done when the fuel pump was changed and the computer. We worked a deal to cover the computer under warranty if we did the fuel pump but my money was on it being the fuel pump. After that ordeal is when I decided to learn how to work on my own car.

I suggest getting a fuel pressure gauge and using it before replacing the pump.

well we found a potential culprit of the problem wich is the guy that had the car before me tried to hook up an air/fuel gauge. he spliced into the main haress right at the computer. that wire was arching off metal so i took it totally out and its been fine every since
