Default turning on second pump

I am going to run a second intank pump but only when the n02 is activated. I keep reading that a hobs switch is needed. One what is that and two how exactly would you wire up so the second pump is not always on. the only way i can think to do it is to wire the hot lead of the second pump to the switch panel. Once I turn on the first stage it would activate the fuel pump. the only problem I can think of is if you have a boost-a-pump that would cause a problem.

A Hobbs switch is a boost sensor that turns on the pump under boost. You do not have boost so you would turn it on just as you described. Trigger it with your nitrous relay.

So am I going to need some kind of relay or can I just splice the hot lead from the second pump to the hot lead of the n02 realy together. then conncect those to the switched hot feed from my switch plate?
