What Is a "Return Style" fuel system?
a non return style system regulates the fuel pressure in the fuel tank itself, with only regulated pressure going to the fuel rails....hence only 1 line going up front. The unused fuel is "recirculated" in the tank, in many cases this bypassed pressure is used to power a "venturi" that uses motive flow to aid in keeping our fuel buckets full of fuel.
conversely, a return style will have two fuel lines running to the engine compartment. Generally this setup will have the fuel regulator on the fuel rail. all fuel that is sensed by the regulator to be in excess of the engines demands at a given fuel pressure setting is then "bypassed" through the second fuel line back to the fuel tank.
that in a nut shell is the differences...
