Default New fuel system is in, car will run for a few seconds

EDIT - The car now hits ~55-60psi when primed, and will start, but kills itself after a few seconds of running. If I give it any throttle it dies faster. Any thoughts?

dual walbros in tank
-8an feed
Nasty rails
-6an return
magnafuel FPR
racetronix wiring harness

I capped off the EVAP on the intake but still have the black quick disconnect hose still hanging in the rear.

I prime the fuel system and the pressure gauge reads ~18psi. I have patched up all the fuel leaks that I can find. Do I need to crank down on my magnafuel FPR to raise the pressure up to ~58psi before starting her up? Any help is appreciated!

Matt

Yes.... 58-60psi rail pressure... If you have been tuned, this is the oppurtunity to mess it up (changing pressure) so try to match what you had (static) before.

How far down the adjustable bolt on the top of the regulator is the nut supposed to go? It was halfway down the bolt when I pulled it out of the box. Is that far from the usual set point?

I have no idea, I just know what the pressure NEEDS to be... Also this is STATIC PRESSURE, so you want to set it without the vacuumline hooked up. After you hook that up, it will pull pressure at idle when in vacuum (as it is supposed to)

Yeah I left the vacuum line off of the regulator, I just need someone to show me a picture of their magnafuel FPR so I can gauge rougly how far down I need to tighten the nut.

regulator likely shipped w/ the screw backed out, to remove tension on the diaphram.

Here is a picture of how far down the adjusting nut is on my regulator...

Is this down far enough? Too far? FrceFed said his was around halfway down, but I don't have a point of reference as I have never seen where someone else has theirs adjusted to. Let me know what you think...

Ok, I got my priming fuel pressure to hit ~55psi now that I know how to actually adjust the regulator haha. The car will fire up and idle, but will still kill itself after a few seconds. If I give it a little throttle it dies instantly...any ideas?

Fuel psi holding at 55, once the engine starts? If not, likely the pump elec circuit has lost continuity.
IE: The relay is no longer energized, due to being wired wrong, etc....Start pos on key turns pump on, to prime, then when engine starts,[key now in run pos], the relay feed is no longer hot..

the car primes to 58-60psi now. when i start the car it runs for a few seconds, holding a solid 60psi the whole time. the car then kills itself...which tells me that the wiring is good...let me know what you think

The only other thing I can think of is the evap system. I plugged off the intake port and the hose coming off the tank vent line is just hanging there, I'm not sure if that would make a difference in it running though.

If you post some more info, maybe I can help.

Where did you get that fuel pressure gauge & are you sure it is correct. It looks liks an old Stewart Warner oil pressure gauge.

Is your double pumper manufactured by Lonnies Performance & is is really a Racetronix harness? If so, please call me & I'll be glad to walk you through some diagnosis procedures.

Is it possible that there is just to much air in the fuel system, i dont know if it is bleed off automaticlly or if you have to do it manually.

Yes, it is a SW pressure gauge from Napa that stated it was fine to use for fuel pressure. Should I invest in an autometer one? None of the shops around here have FP gauge, just fuel level.

Yes the double pumper was manufactured by Lonnies and it is a real racetronix harness, I can give you a call tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work. Thanks for stepping up, I'm kind of stumped on this one

I'll be glad to help you out.

I ask about the gauge, because you are relying on it to setup your new system. If it is off by a large amount, it may prevent the car from running.

So out of nowhere today, the car starts and idles for however long I need it to. I didn't change ONE THING since I last posted. Go figure. Lonnie, I'll still be giving you a call soon, thanks for helping me out already.

I think the camshaft position sensor is out. My car is throwing P0342 which others say make the car VERY hard to start and when it does run it runs like crap. I'd say that's the problem, now I just gotta find one
