Default starting problems?

I have a 99 TA A4 with almost 80,000 mi and it takes about 5 to 10 min to start it. It just started doing this about a week ago. I had hypertech installed with a granatelli mass air installed but removed them and it keeps doin it. Could it need a new fuel filter or pump or are my injectors bad? TIA

Is it flooded? I just de-winterized and the car wouldn't start. It would crank and cough, but not fire. I tried pulling the fuel pump relay and cranking it to clear the flood, but I ended up pulling the plugs to let it dry out. Then it fired right up, no problems since.

Could be time for a new fuel filter and an injector clean out.

Changing the filter is a really cheap and easy start. Even if its not "NEEDED", its possible that after 80,000 miles, its starting to get pretty pluged and is impaction high RPM performance.

If that does not do it, then try cleaning out the injectors (soaking them in cleaner). This is much more work than the filter change but still cheaper than replacing parts (new injectors or fuel pump).
