fuel pump hot wire kit
for those who are unsure this is the kit that woudl wire in a walbro 340 fuel pump up has a relay and a wire with an inline fuse that connects to the alt.
the part im a little unclear on is the relay im not sure what wires go where if that makes any sense.
I mounted both the relay and HD Ground wire to the factory bolt that holds the DS rear brake line bracket onto the car. You will see it behind the tank on the DS bolted to the sheet metal of the car behind the tank. Be sure to grind all the paint off to bare metal under the bracket & around the hole, sand both sides of the bracket to get clean, and underneath of bolt head - for good contact.
From the relay the rest of the long harness goes up to the front of the car and then to stud on rear of alternator. Be sure to zip tie liberally and keep the wiring away from any suspension pinch points or hot exhaust.
So Im Guessing I Have To Hack The Harness Outside The Tank To Wire In The Relay It Has No Wires Going To It The Only Other Thing I Have Is The Wire That Goes To The Alternator.
So Im Guessing The Wires From The Connector Have To Fun Through The Relay Then The Red Wire Goes Off From It. I Have A Hand Drawn Diagram For It But The Colors For The Wires Dont Match Up I Dont Think
Atleast I Have It All Out Of The Tank So Its Not Hard To Work On It Its Just A Little Confusing At The Moment.
Hope you don't mind that I'm going to borrow your thread blackbyrd for a related question.
I have the alternator out of the bracket but am having second thoughts about using the post on it for the hotwire kit connection simply because it is so inaccessible after the alternator goes back in. It looks to me that power post up on the inner fender is just as good for a + voltage connection. From what I can trace out, that post is a direct connection from the battery and alternator. Anyone see a problem using it?
