Possible fuel pump problem?
Possible fuel pump problem? I took the Z out last Sat. night and after cruising for a while I noticed a noise coming from the back of the car. After pulling into a parking lot, I let the car idle and got out and heard a very loud sound that has to be the fuel pump. It was never audible before since the car is pretty loud. I shut the car off and smelled unburnt fuel. I checked for leakes as best I could with a flashlight around the tank and also under the hood just in case and found none. I fired it back up and same loud sound and no leaks. I drove the 30 miles home and the car still ran perfect but when I got home the sound was gone! I could barely hear the fuel pump. Also there was no longer a gas smell. Has this ever happened to anyone? I strongly believe that it is the pump, but can't understand why I smelled gas in the parkinglot just that one time and why the sound just went away. Thanks!
