A Hobbs Switch and Relay energizes the 2nd pump when the engine is no longer at vacuum.
I'd think two pumps running all the time wears one unneccesarily AND heats the fuel more.
More pressure through the lines all the time, too.

Re: DUAL WALBRO 340 Here is a pic of a dual Walbro 340 setup. One pump is fulltime and the other is set for boost application. This is for a 800+ horsepower Supra, but the idea is the same.
