Default fuel gauge problem! HELP PLEASE!!!

i filled my tank up yesterday on my 99 LS1 and have driven about 100 miles and the gauge has not moved it is stuck on the full side when the motor is on. when i shut the engine off the gauge drops all the way to the empty side. does anyone know what the problem might be? thanks in advance!

It's not the gauge, it's the sending unit, which is located in the tank. Mine did it for a few tanks and would say full till about 180 miles, then I was getting about 2 mpg watching the gauge drop to empty Anyways, you could either drop the tank and change out the sending unit (you may have to buy the pump and sending unit together which is expensive) or you can try what I did, which fixed it. Lucas fuel system cleaner and buy GOOD gas, not cheap mom & pop stuff. Been 2 years since I had that happen and no problems since.
