Default Stock Regulator question?

I am going to do a racetronix pump and hotwire kit, and i was wondering if i should take the regulator out? I know that i would have to buy a new regulator for the car to run. I am trying to upgrade my fuel system to handle 550 or so with a 150 shot. The car makes 401 to the wheels right now. Could i leave the regulator in the tank until i have enough money to get a new feed and rails and regulator and disconnect it somehow without dropping the tank later? I have been reading and lot of people say the regulator in tank is a limiting factor in the fbody fuel system. I don't know a whole lot but i am trying to learn so i can do everything right the first time.

Older thread, but exactly the info I was needing after I searched, so TTT. Anybody know? I'm in the same boat, except mine has 435rwhp and needing to know if new front mount and in tank regulators should be in order when swapping in a racetronix kit?

You can remove the stock regulator & install a front mount regulator with return line to get better pressure control.

Unfortunately, you will have to remove the one from the sender if you choose to do this, requiring you to drop the tank.

I also stock the Racetronix pumps if you are in need of one.

i might do this same thing... but i have a few quesitions

if you have a trap door above the fuel tank, do you still have to drop the tank to remove the stock regulator?

also, if replacing the stock in-tank regulator with an aftermarket one after the fuel rails, is there any wiring required or is it all mechanical? thanks!
