Default Fuel pressure dropping on new gauge

Just got done installing an auto meter fuel pressure gauge. When I rev the car the pressure drops down to about 40. At idle and small revs it seems to hold right around 56ish. I haven't been able to do any WOT runs. Is this normal? I have a walbro intank and inline with 36lb svo injectors on a 422. Thanks for any help.

do you mean just quick hard revs sitting still?

because the fuel pressure regulator is in the tank and not on the engine, the system has more delay from the time fuel demand rises till the regulator can close up and bring the pressure back up to where it should be.....its not a problem.....

Yes just quick hard revs while it's setting in the garage. I haven't had a chance to roadtest it yet.

the fuel pressure shouldnt drop that much just reving it, only about 5psi.
my guess is the regulator, maybe it would be worth while for you to go to an aftermarket one.
although mine supported my 512+rwhp
so it souds like your regulator is crapping out.

Hey civic girl, more gauges for your ricemobile I see. I'm kidding, but really I'm going to help you out on this one. If possible, plug off the return line back to the tank, then while watching your new carbon fiber gauge, quickly snap the throttle wide open. If the fuel pressure drops more than 2psi, you probably have a fuel volume problem. Hope that helps.

Holy crap you were wrong about my car for once. My gauge is sport comp and not carbon fiber. On a serious note though...say my intank pump isn't working. Would my inline still suck enough fuel to make the car run? The car cuts out when I got WOT and I was guessing fuel pressure so I put the gauge on to check. I thought it might have been a tuning issue but now I'm wondering. Thanks for the ideas guys.

I'd say that depends on the inline pump and it's proximity to the tank. But if I had to make a guess I would say no. Electric pumps do not suck well, not nearly as hard as your car does anyway. Just kidding.

Nice new name...

58 dropping to 40 at idle, just popping it is bad.

Something is wrong.

I bet it will go below 30 at WOT, have you watched it?

Any drops of more than 5psi from 58psi is not really good.

i know you think youve found your problem in the other thread, but if the intank is not working the inline cannot feed the car. The intank pumps the fuel to the inline (if it is set up the way i think it is) then the inline pumps that fuel.
if the intank cant pump fuel to the inline, well no fuel.

i had the same problem, i woud up doing a complete fuel system, sumped tank, rails lines pump, regulator. i couldnt find it at all, i changed the stock regulator, fuel pump etc... you could try just doing a return line with an aftermarket regulator
