Default converting from 98 to 99-02 system

I have a 98 and currently have the tank out to upgrade the fuel pump. My questiion is, if i swap to a plastic cell and the 99-02 pump, will it all hook up the way the 98 system did? or is there more to it? Would it be worth the hassle to save a few pounds? Any help on this would be appreciated.. Thanks

The connections are different, so you will have to fabricate a harness.

You basically gain nothing except for a small amount of weight.

For drag racing, the '98 pump is in a superior location & has less chance of losing pressure under acceleration. Personally I would stick with the '98 setup unless the tank is rusted internally.
