Quick Fuel Pump Question
Quick Fuel Pump Question If the switch is on does the fuel pump run til it builds pressure in the fuel rails and kick off or does it hold constant pressure. It sounds like I can hear the fuel pump kick on when I hit the switch but when I push in the schrader valve on the fuel rail I don't get a drop of gas. This pump and filter has 78 miles on them. Car was running fine then it was like it wasn't getting any fuel. Barely got it home. Any help is greatly appreciated. The only thing I know to do is put in another fuel pump and it won't be a Walboro.
Have you checked the pressure at the valve? The pump only runs for like 5 seconds with Key ON/Engine Off. There's no fuel pressure feedback in the loop, so it doesn't know what pressure it's delivering.
I'll get a gauge from work and check it tomorrow. I limped the car home and now it won't start. Any other suggestions? Are these pumps pretty common to quit when there brand new?
Brand new? Usually not, but I guess it can happen.
If you can hear the pump run and you are still getting zero pressure at the rails, then something must be blocking the fuel, either between the pump and the rails or at the pickup. See if you can get any fuel in the line before the filter. Disconnect it and run the hose into a bucket. You should get a good steady stream when the pump runs. Have a friend turn the key on while you observe. If there's no fuel at that point, then I think it's time to bring the tank down.

I just got a new walbro pump and it worked great. If you just change it and it turns on but you're not getting pressure I would check the pump feed line.
If the pump for some reason is bad I have one I just used to start my car and took out because I am going to back half my car and use a whole new fuel system you can pm me.
