ok my 96 trans am will not crank and i have a fuel pressure tester , so i hooked it up and turned on the key and it went all the way up to 43-44 psi and slowly backed off down to 35 of so......what is my problem or is that normal?

An LT1 car does not run at 58.....
It should be approx 43-45 idling with the vac line off the regulator, & it will read around 38 at idle with the vac line on. Your key on reading seems OK.
What is wrong with the car?

ZL1, I think you are talking about an LS1, not an LT1.
Lonnie, he says it will not crank (proably means that it cranks, but will not start).
080522jk, I think that !@#%^$&%*()^%^#%^()*&%^%*& would be more appropriate.
camarostripes96, it is O.K. that the pressure bleeds down, but from there it should take a few minutes (~30, IIRC) to go back down to near 0 (zero).
The next thing to check is spark.
