Default Gas Fumes!

Normally my car sits over the weekdays under a cover in front of my dad's house(lot's of parking over there). So Friday night when I pick her up I don't really smell "much" gas probably because it's outside. However if I get to park in a garage overnight, then by the next morning the gas smell will hit you like a ton of bricks when you open the door.

Obviously I've done a ton of fuel work for my blower. Walbro intank, -6AN fuel lines, Speed Inc. fuel rails, Aeromotive boost referenced FPR.

I cut a hole for access to the tank. I cover it with steel metal, RTV sealant, and sheet metal screws(very tiny ones) to secure and seal. I would think, if it were the bulkhead seal on the top of the tank that the interior of the car would reek of gas even if it's parked outside. But that's not what happens. The interior only smells if the car is in a garage(and that's cause everything smells like gas). Maybe the RTV is enough, cause the tank seems like the obvious thing to look at first.

I guess hat I'm asking is how do I figure out where the gas is coming from?

Thanks guys,
Mike

I would think you have a leak at one of your fittings. You park at your Dads, it leaks a little but its ventilated so you dont notice. Later you drive it, it leaks, you park in garage, and BAM the smell is there. I would start at one end and work my way around until you find the wet spot

Sometimes If You Run Really Rich...the extra(unburnt) fuel end up in you cats or in your pipes....and that could lead to the smell too.... do you notice the smell Immediately after turning off the car....or while you are driving??? or just after its been sitting all night???

The car always has a very mild gas smell that's not bad at all, but it gets really bad after sitting all night. She is running pig rich right now. I have some fueling issues and have to run very rich to compensate.

Right now, and pretty much since I've redone the fuel system, I have been running without cats. I'm eventually gonna upgrade my fuel lines and fuel filter. At that time I guess I can double check each and every connection.

I was afraid that it was the top of the tank leaking. But one thing I notice is that the longer the car sits the longer it takes tyo start it up the next time. I thought it was just that my FPR was leaking fuel back into the return line.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give these a try.
