I bought two walbros and a hot wire kit. Do I need two hot wire kits or can i plum one hot wire kit into both fuel pumps?

Thanks for the help!

You need to have a dedicated second line for the second pump. Are you planning to run both pumps at the same time? I hope not...

Hey Chad just wondering why you say this. When I did my twin install, I have seen where people have run with both on at the same time all the time. I chose to go the hobbs switch way. But I think so people can understand why, we should probably discuss this!

one hot wire kit should work, as long as the gauge of the power wire is thick enough for the current.

A couple reasons:

1) Not necessary at all when just cruising and driving around normally.

2) HEAT! Those things get hot enough as is, no need to double the heat unless you need them. I have learned first hand that heat is the kryptonite for fuel pumps!

And the added volume going through a relatively small line.

Also you should individually wire each pump as they draw alot of juice and will need a relay for each one. And yes as long as the gauge wire is sufficent.

Also I believe that Frost has an excellent write up on how to do this also that can be found through the search. It is relativiley easy. And as Nasty nate stated make sure that you get a extra fuse for it. I will see if I can find any pics of mine when I did it. I am not sure if I took any or not.

Not sure about the F-bodies, but in a C5 the tank bulkhead connector (pins) is rated at a lower amp rating than what two pumps can pull. Also make sure you use teflon insulated wire inside the tank, not PVC insulated wire. In my dual pump setup, I used the ground wire lead for the second hot lead, and the metal bulkhead as the ground return for both pumps.

Also instead of a Hobbs switch, I used a microswitch under the gas pedal triggered at 3/4 throttle. More trustworthy than a hobbs, and the second pump can be tested every time you get in.
