Default Fuel Pump: drop tank or make access door?

I've been having fuel issues and my tuner can't tune my car to it's potential until i get more fuel. So i'm going to swap the fuel pump and probably the fuel filter again just in case. I don't know if there is much more i can do. is it easier to take out the back seat and cut through the metal to access it from the top or should i just drop the tank? is there a write up on how to make an access point for the fuel pump?

Dropping the tank is a pain, but I recommend it. It gives you a chance to inspect everything and clean out the tank. If anything happens after that (like you need to replace the pump again, issues w/ it, anything) you can always cut the hole so you dont have to drop it again.

Heres the link that should have everything you need to know about the access hole. If you need more just search "Trap Door"

Heres a writeup I did earlier this week about dropping the tank. It will show you exactly what you need to do to drop the tank. Good luck.

I've done both and I suggest you cut a hole if your doing it on jack stands,if you have a lift then drop the tank.

If you're not squeamish about cutting into your car, then cut the door. Much easier.

i'm not really squeemish about cutting it cuz its got 72K on it and i'm not trying to keep it stock either. I might be able to use a lift but i'd rather get it done sooner in my driveway.

Cut it and take your time to make it look nice. Alot of cars come factory with access doors. We mod our cars to make them better, being able to service your fuel pump and sender in 10 mins is better than 4hours.

Cut the access door and dont look back (3 times as fast and make life easier just incase you have to get to it again) because I wished I could have done the Camaro and Trans Ams I had to drop the tank at the dealership when I worked there a few years ago. Good Luck
