Default Xylene, octane booster

For those using Xylene and Marvel Mystery oil mix for an octane booster, do you mix the xylene/oil and fuel outside the tank then add. Or do you add the xylene/oil mix into a known quantity directly into the tank. in other words if I have 10 gallons in my tank, can I just add a 2 gallon mix in? Thanks

Thats what I did, just added to the tank and drove around for a bit to mix it up. Its WAY cheaper if you buy xylene in a 55 gallon drum from your local chemical supply store...I remember it being around 150 or so

I have not seen any big drums of it here on island. I can get by gallon at Home Depot. It is still expensive, but there is no race gas here. Xylene is a chemical that is used for paint stripping that is around 116 octane. People mix it with gas to avoid detonation while on boost or nitrous.

toluene is fairly effective also and it can be picked up at a hardware store as well.

its been so long since ive needed it i dont remember how i used to mix it.. but it may help you and could be worth looking into. but where i live im in the armpit of the USA.. we do a shatpile of oil refining around here so high octane gas is plentiful

I usually pump around 1000 gallons of XYLENE at a time down hole to clean out oil wells. Very flammable! I stick to the pump gas.

And BTW- XYLENE will melt soft materials-like rubber of any hardness, and read the MSDS on it as for any other chemical.
