LS1 running way TOO HOT!!! My 98 Z28 is running between 230 - 240. I have put in a new radiator, my coolant is full, I have no leaks, my fans are working just fine, I have tried using a gutted thermostat as well as a 160 degree thermostat and I can't seem to even get down to 210 unless i'm driving at night. It doesn't matter if i'm driving down the highway or sitting in a parking lot. I'm wondering if the suncoast creations ram airbox i'm using w/ my ram air hood is making my car run hot for some reason. If anybody has any ideas....please lemme know!
Re: LS1 running way TOO HOT!!! There are a few possible causes here... first are you 100% positive that there are no air pockets in the system? Next check the waterpump to make sure the belt is routed correctly and the pump isn't turning backwards. Check to make sure there are no objects obstructing airflow (plastic bags have been known to make thier way in between the radiator and condensor. Also, check what temps the cooling fans are coming on at. If none of these things fix your problem then A) there is an obstruction somewhere in the coolant passages. or B) The impeller is slipping on the water pump shaft....
