What is this noise? Fuel pump?

What is this noise? Fuel pump? I was driving the other day and started to hear a high pitched beep. Thought it was a car around me but quickly noticed it was my car. I stopped and left the car on....it was loud around the *** end of my car. Sounded like a fuel pump going out so I turned on my secondary 255 pump switch and it didnt stop but changed tones not quite as loud.
It goes on and off from day to day and is really annoying me. When it does it....it doesn't get louder or softer when i brake or accelerate....just constant. The car isnt bucking or fuel cutting or driving any differnt for that matter but I cant think of what else it would be except a fuel pump? What do you guys think?
