Default FPR Problems?

So my dad brought my car to get checked out and it's getting 25 psi at the shraeder valve. I've already replaced the fuel pump and filter. The mechanic also took a look at my FPR and said it was a Bosch "mechanical" fpr. He said its not the stock one that should be on there. He said the factory FPR should be "vacuum operated". I figure it could be the fpr goin wack or a problem with one or more of the injectors. what do you guys think? what type of FPR should I get?

the fuel pressure regulator is on the sending unit in the fuel tank, so unless he dropped the tank and removed the sender he's not looking at the fuel pressure regulator. if he's looking at the thing on the fuel rail, that is the fuel pulse dampener. it softens the shock on the fuel inside the rail each time an injector fires. the fuel pressure regulator is not vacuum operated.

could the fuel pulse dampener be bad? would that choke out my fuel pressure?

looking at the diagrams i have of it, if the internal spring broke, it should just stay open and not dampen anything which should not affect fuel pressure. if the diaphram broke, then that might possibly affect the pressure. i would figure out how to test line pressure before the rail.
