Gears... I am looking into getting a Camaro SS or Z28. This car is going to be a weekend car/car meet car only. Now everyone has been doing roll races on the freeway. Is the stock gears ok or no? I ws thinking 3.73's with a 9 bolt mosier rear end. Let me know what you guys think.
3.70 gears work really well as an all around gear ratio, and works well for automatics and 6 speed cars that see a lot of highway miles.
4.11 gears work very well for moderately built cars who are looking for a good gear for a car that sees a lot of street use, but not as much highway use.
Now this is a very general guide and for those of us who use to drive a turbo 400 on the highway (3600 rpm) with 4.11 gears with no overdrive, the 4.11 gears in an late model overdrive transmission seems like nothing. If you're making over 500 rwhp, the 4.11 gears can run you out of gear in the 1/4 mile unless you're running taller tires and you have the rev limiter bumped up. Bob
