Diff cover questions I am building this 10 bolt, bad Idea to start off with. Can some one explain to me what these aluminum cover are all about? They are supposed to do what? Pre load the main bearings? I am lost
you pretty much nailed it. The main idea is to pre-load the bearing caps and eliminate flex. however they also hold a little more fluid and are supposed to run cooler because aluminum dissipates heat better. On top of all that they also have a drain and fill plug so you don’t have to pull the cover to change the fluid. while your in there you can also buy the ARP bearing cap studs that are much stronger then the factory ones...
