Axle play!?

when i drive my 95 z28 down the high way it shakes like a bastard when i left off the gas, and decreases when i step on it going about 90. i thought it would be my tires, but when i took the rears off, my passenger side axle moved in and out about .090" and the driver side did not. I'm not to good with rear ends. am i having so much play because of the bearings or is it suppose to be like this? thanks. what will happen if i drive it the way it is

It may also be a unbalanced driveshaft. If they are unbalanced they can really shake/vibrate at high speeds/rpm's

all that holds the axles in is a c-clip thing, they move a little. I dont know how much they should move but......

I'm sure both axles move in/out the same - try it with the brakes off as they might be restricting it.

Check your pinion and see if it's loose.... Just grab hold of it and see if you can move it up/down side/side....
