C-CLIP Eliminators?
Basically, a bearing is presses on to your axle, and there is a bearing retainer that bolts the assembly to the rear end housing. Most heavy duty or aftermarket rear ends utilize this option. Some racing divisions will not allow C-clips to begin with.
I agree one advantage being keeping the tire on when the axle breaks. When I bought my car the guy showed me a couple of 10-bolt axles in the corner that twisted off at the splines. Keep in mind C-clips can fail as well, end reult being the same.
