do not use synthetic, only generic 80-w90, use no additive with the locker

I'm switching to synthetic Amsoil 75W-140 in mine. I've been using Valvoline synthetic for 5k. No problems and gears are quiet. Moving up to the heavier stuff to see if it quiets the locker a bit. At any rate, the locker has no clutches so no friction additive needed.

Some people try to do that to quiet it down or have some extra lube to quiet the engagement. With a tru trac it may mess it up. The shop that did my gears added GM lube to it and I gotta flush the rear at some point and run enough oil for 2 changes to flush it all out.

So do most use synthetic or regular with a detroit locker?

- Just got of the phone with Eaton and they said using an additive is a waste of money. They said use generic 80/90.

thx johnny
