Default Fluid for a Detroit Locker?

Like the title says... What fluid would you recommend using for a Detroit locker in a 9"? I see they say they don't recomment using synthetic, but I was wondering if anyone had any input on what weight and/or brand to use.

I started with non synthetic oil from Napa for break in. Now I use AMSOIL synthetic 85/140. Heavier oil is better IMO. I've been told that synthetic is a death sentence but mine is ok and it isnt loud either. Something to know about "synthetic" oils. The MAJORITY of them are just over refined base stock. They still get start out with the same stock from the ground. I learned this at an oil seminar at SEMA last Nov. that was held by the guys from Spectro Oil. The guys from Torco were there as well to add info.

I'm not sure why it isn't recommended, but both Eaton and Moser say they do not recommend using a synthetic fluid in a detroit locker. I love Amsoil, it's what I run for my motor, but I think I'll stick with their recommendations on not using a synthetic. Thanks for the info guys, any more input is more than welcome!
