Rear End Problems

Rear End Problems The rear end on my 6-speed 97 T/A was making strange noise when you turn at low speed...
I was think the gear oil needed changing so I went ahead and changed all the fluid in the drive train......
I was running redline gear oil before,,,,This time I went with Lucas high performance gear oil thinking a heaver oil would be better....It said on the can that no Additive was needed......((((Contains "climbing additives" that insures total lubrication. Expect less gear rattle,,,,less whine and longer bearing life)))) so I didn't put any of the GM additive in there.........Was that a mistake???
The Lucas oil didn't work to well for me,,, the problem has gotten much worse almost to the point where the rear end is locking up completely........
When I took the diff cover off there were no materials or any sign of wear,,,,That said I really didn't know what I was looking for anyway....So does anyone have any ideas to what's going on here?? I guess the next step is to take the diff cover off to see what's going on,,,,, any tips on what to look for??The car has 74,000 babied miles on it,,,, sets most of the time...........Any help appreciated.............Later.....................

Same problems on my 2001 camaro, had loud noise at rear end while I driving. I checked on axle while lift up (off the ground) and idling. I found out,the rear end bearing is bad /worn-out. I am going to have fix it myself today. Hope so it would be easy to replace the rear end bearings.
I would put Lucas Oil Heavy-Duty SAE 85-140, would be good choice.

Hi, Jeff!!!! Thanks for infor...........So that bearing your talking about,,, would that be at the drive shaft or on each side of the diff??????I used Lucas 80W-90 as that's what the manual calls for,,,, is that to light????? Let me know how you get on,,,, as it looks like I'll be doing the same thing,,,, maybe some pic's if ya can.......Anyway good luck with it.........later.................
