4.10's are in, HUGE difference

Car seriously hauls ass now. It revs through 1st and 2nd fast as hell. Almost completely eliminates the "Cam Surge" when driving at low speeds. Overall it's probably the best bang for the buck on these cars. I am still on stock 10 bolt but I am gonna leave street tires on and hardly race from a dig. I'm not worried at all about breaking anything.

Any of you Cam only M6 guys need to get this done ASAP. It really transforms the car!

thats the next thing on my list, i cant wait

Maybe 4.10s in a 12 bolt rear, you have the quickness and no worries of it breaking

lol amazing to hear.. I'm doing 4.10s soon.. can't wait...

I love my 4.10s. The first time I drove it after the install it pulled a lot harder than with the 3.42s and I am stock.

4.10's

I've got the same smile on my face with the 4.10's :)
Be careful from a dig though....busted a tooth on my pinion doing that stuff...

Fully agree with ya', but got a nasty suprise at the track. With my H/C car, I have to shift each gear at 6700RPM to get throught the 1/4 at the top of 4th with my 4.11's. The 1st time I went out I short shifted at 6200 and ended out having to go to 5th gear just short of the traps :bang: It's great for street driving though

4.10s rock :headbang: Even with a hotcam I can still get about 28mpg on a roadtrip. I've owned 4.10s in two Fbodys and I must say that there is absolutely no adverse effect on fuel economy. Why? Because you're in 5th gear at 35mph... if you want to be. Its much easier to drive, 55mph in 6th gear is effortless, and 70 or 80 mph is still owned by 6th gear. Traction is another issue. I have never hooked, even from a roll in 1st gear :( I bet it feels sweet :eyes:

4.10s do rock for an M6 just dont beat on them too much.

Have you broken a rearend in an M6 before with 4.10 gears?

Anybody worried about not having traction in 1st gear shouldn't be. I make 409 whp and 394 ft lbs and it hooks from a 20 roll pretty well. you just have to ease into it then punch it when it hooks. (same way I did with 3.42's)

there is an obvious way to make them last and an obvious way to make them fail. I have seen plenty of local M6s break 10 bolts by clutch dropping them, hence the word i used "beat on". I have also rebuilt M6 rears (that werent broken just getting gears and complete bearings) with 10k on them that were driven really hard but not clutch dropped and they have worse bearing race wear then 100k cars that were driven softer.

i plan on launching getting 4.30 or 4.56 gears and doing 6k or rev limiter clutch drops on slicks. im going with a 12 bolt lol

i must say the 4.10's feel great in my GF's car w/m6. ridden in all of my buddy's cars with stock gears or 3.73's and those just dont compare to the ease of 4.10's

BlackScreaminMachine Jul 24, 2009 08:00 AM

4.10's is def a fun upgrade. If this car stayed N.A. it would have 4.30's I wager but if a shot goes on, 4.10's is where I want to be.
