What gears with Nittos.
What gears with Nittos. Ok so i have a 2000 z28 camaro with bolt ons. I am putting in a patriot performance mild cam this week. i have a stock 10 bolt with the stock 2.73s. i have nitto nt555r on the rear and was wondering what gears i can put in without blowing the rear too easily. I go to the track like once a year its manily for the street.

i would go with a 3.73. Great all around gear for the auto. Get em set-up right and it will last. Mine are holding up fine with 555rs on and a severe beating at least weekly.
The converter has a lot to do with this question. With a stock converter you can get as steep a gear ratio as you want and you should be able to avoid snapping the 10 bolt. Also, Nitto 555Rs will spin before the rear snaps.

Yeah and my converter hits hard off the line too, autos are so friendly to drivetrains they break themselves first. The 4l60 is what any auto guy should worry about breaking not the 10 bolt. I know of converter'd/camm'd autos spraying 100 shots off the line for hundreds of passes before the 10 bolt goes.
