Default Rear thumping

I've got a 98 z28/m6 with stock rear end and BMR non-adj LCAs. I'm noticing a thumping from the rear end area when I light the tires up. It doesn't seem like wheel hop to me at all and I'm fairly new to Posi/LSD RWD cars so could this noise be coming from my factory Auburn differential? The sound is what i would best describe as a fast paced, low pitched thumping, only present when there is wheelspin in first gear/second gear upon launching the car on the street. Car is in excellent condition with 25k miles. I've searched for lots of info on diffs but I have yet to answer this question. Thanks
