Default Which is short axel on 9" ?

I tried the search, but I suppose I do not ask correctly
I need to install the backing plates on the axels and need to know which side is short/long

The PASSENGER (RIGHT) side axle is the LONGER axle, driver side being the shorter axle. You can tell which side will be the longer axle by looking at the offset of the center section. Bob
