So that's why it was making noise...
I *think* it's a shim from the driver's side of the carrier. Another shim was a tad bit warped, and had some scuffing on it.
Hope to have the spool installed by later this weekend.

There were multiple shims on that side. I've never set up a rear end before, but there were two large ones (outers), and then probably 4 or 5 thin shims inbetween the two - and one of those multi-pack were scuffed, and that's where I think this shim may have come from. Not sure if that's "the way" to do it or not (I didn't set them up, my buddy did), but when I do it this next time, I'll try to do it with as few shims as possible (I figure 1 thick is better than 4 or 5 thin, right?
