switching to posi need help!

ok so i have a 94 camaro that was a v6 car and didnt have posi but now i have a posi unit from a z28 (98-02) but when my dad was taking the old one out he had to remove a bolt and pull a pin out that was holding the axle tubes out so he could un clip them and pull them out. on the new one it doesnt have the pin and stuff in the middle and he was wondering how it was going to keep the axles from sliding in and the c clips coming off.

any answers?

Is it a worm gear style (Thorson) ?, They have a block type cross pin, If its a clutch type it will have a round cross pin. You can use the one out of your carrier that you took out,if its the round one. But it must have the cross pin if it has the c-clips
