From my experience doing anything to the 10 bolt is a waste of time. The problem is not the carrier or the axles as much as it is the surface area of the gears they are too small.

Save the money for an upraded rear end, you will have much better results $ 4 $ in the end.....

12-bolt
S-60
9"
8.5"
8.8
If you search a few threads you will see many different ideas that will WORK and save you time and money.

I am in the final stages of an 8.8 build total investment is 850.00 with a rear end girdle... For the money it is the strongest set up you can build! key words to search
8.8 build

I agree...the 10 bolt is junk and should only be in the v6 models, save your cash and buy a real rear-end

^^^Yes on the v-6. I have 267,000 miles on mine and still going strong. Never had a v-8 4th gen, so lucky me, haha. I run a 8.5 10 bolt in my 68 Bird and have had very good luck with it. runs in the mid 10's.

as was said, dont put money into the junky 10 bolt. Save the money and blow it on a nice beeefy rear. Don't skimp on that either though, will come back to bite you haha.
