Default What Gears

OK i am going to rebuild my 10 bolt. I know a LOT of u will discourage this but my car is mainly a daily driver and the occasional trip to the strip.

I am looking at 3.73's or 4.10's. It is a 6 speed so what kind of gas milage dose everyone get with this set up and what company makes a good gear. i.e. last as a daily driver and strip car.

has been discussed many times...

With a m6, mpg won't really drop like it would in an a4, and as for a strong set of gears, nothing will be "strong" in a 10 bolt. The gears also have a bigger chance in breaking the higher ratio you go.

I was in the same boat a few weeks ago and decided on a happy medium between 3.73's and 4.10's, I went with Motive 3.90's.
Most people say that the 3.73's aren't a large enough step up from the 3.42's to be noticeable. And IMO the small pinion in the 4.10's seems to make for some strength issues, esp. with the 7.5 10bolt.
I DD mine also and haven't noticed a huge difference in fuel mileage but it definetely increases the fun factor.
Bottom line it's your descision !!!

I also think 3.90 will be a good choice for you.

Seems like you know the pitfalls of the 10 bolt already so I won't insult you.

Rock on, I had a Mac cover and stuff on mine. Just decided to eventually go the 9" route. Mine still is together though, just not on my car anymore.

If you aren't putting hard launches on it and watching the wheelhop you will be fine for a while.

We have a local guy (Unstang, he is a member here) who has cut a 1.53 I believe on the 10-bolt with ET Streets.
