ok, but what about in an A4 car? Would a 10-bolt w/4.10's last at least 5 track visits?? Not asking for my slow *** car, this would be for an all out H/C setup?

and what about the break in miles you guys are talking about? how mandatory is that and how many miles?? it'll take me a couple months to put 500 miles on my car.

TIA

I put 4.10's in a 10 bolt last Jan....and made well over 100 passes with my car. It's an M6 that dead hooks, cuts 1.7 60's on Nitto drag radials and hits 2nd gear extremely hard.....won't ever bark the tires on the street it hits and goes bam with the *** end straight as an arrow. I sold the 10 bolt to a buddy of mine with his 99 A4 Z28. He's been at the track every week twice a week with 202 ported heads, 212/218 comp cam (same as mine) and he has been fine.

Maybe my gears were installed very well. For the action my car saw, I was amazed with all the 4.10 gear stories. That A4 is running 11.9's @ 117+ with no stall converter. I am running 11.9's at 116-117 with stock heads.

I do have a 12 bolt rear end now......I travel to tracks within FL and replaced the rear end because of no worries and I really wanted a cam this year.

A4's are not as hard on 10 bolts as M6's are. WE control the shift points how hard etc we want to go through the gears.
