drive shaft run out
drive shaft run out been chasing a vibration for over a month now, turns out my new chromoly D.S. has .0030 run out at the rear end and down to .0018 at trany took it back and they are building a new one how much vibe would this with that much run out
you could get some vibration but i work at a company who makes drill heads so we measure spindle runout almost daily and we see .001 and .002 most of the time and even .003 and .004 but that is pushing it....keep in mind that these spindles are way smaller than your driveshaft too but i would think three thousandths would be acceptable. i mean heck strange has their runout toleranced at .008
I worked at a driveshaft place and we would neve let one leave with more than 15 thousands run off. That was on 4.095 or larger tubing. On normal vehicle stuff i would get them within 5 thousands.
